🗓️ Community Planting - Restoring Glindemann Creek - Saturday 12 September
Join the community and local bushcare group in restoring native vegetation along Glindemann Creek, creating habitat for local wildlife and contributing to a greener Brisbane.
The more hands the merrier and we welcome everyone to join this family-friendly event to help plant 670 native species.
Afterwards, you’ll also get a chance to meet some amazing native animals with Geckoes Wildlife Show.
Date & Time: Saturday 12 September, 8:30am - 11:30am
Location: Glindemann Park (upstream of the dog off-leash area), 1208 Logan Road, Holland Park West.

🗓️ Making the most of social media for bushcare - Tuesday 15 September
Presented by long-time landcare and conservation consultant Samantha Morris from Wombat Creative, this 2-hour online workshop explores how to creatively use social media for your bushcare group: defining your purpose, identifying your audience and choosing the right platform.
Participants leave with tips and tools they can use straight away to create genuine and engaging content and connect with their communities.
Date & Time: Tuesday 15 September, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: The online workshop and will be held on the Zoom platform. Participants will receive the link to the Zoom meeting after registering.

🗓️ Backyard Connections - Thursday 24 September
Professor Don Sands will present ‘The intricate relationships between moths, plants and birds’. This presentation highlights several moth species, focusing on their interactions with plants, their role as detritivores, and their importance to bird populations.
Also hear Nina Higgins speak about her daring ‘zero dollars’ pool-to-pond conversion project. Learn how she created a beautiful, thriving, aquatic habitat in her backyard that cost nothing; saves her thousands every year on pool costs; and has transformed her garden into a wildlife haven.

🗓️ Brisbane Bioblitz - 19th to 27th September
Brisbane City Council have partnered with Griffith University to roll out four BioBlitz events where nature enthusiasts of all ages can help discover and record local wildlife.
Observations will contribute valuable data to real biodiversity research. Whether you’re a seasoned naturalist or just curious about your local environment, this hands-on citizen science event is a great way for the whole family to connect with nature, don’t miss it!
Date & Time: Saturday 19 September to Sunday 27 September
Location: Simpson Falls, Mt Coot-tha, and Karawatha Forest, Drewvale.

🗓️ The Great Koala Count - Sunday 11 October
Join the Whites Hill – Pine Mountain Community Group Inc (WHPMCG) for the Great Koala Count at Whites Hill Reserve.
Participants will split into teams, each covering a different area of the reserve during a 1.5-hour guided survey to help build a picture of the local koala population.
Following the count, stay for a friendly morning tea, where we will tally the results, hear some short presentations, and enjoy stalls and prize draws.
Registration fees will be donated to koala rescue and care groups in our area.
Date & Time: Sunday 11 October, 7am - 10:30am
Location: Whites Hill Reserve Play Park, 258 Boundary Road, Camp Hill.

🗓️ Planting for Platypus - Sunday 11 October
Join us at Spine St Park for a hands‑on community planting event supporting vital platypus habitat right here in Brisbane.
We’ll begin with a Welcome to Country and Didgeridoo performance, honouring the Traditional Custodians and their connection to Country and waterways.
We’ll then plant nearly 2,000 native species to strengthen the creek corridor, boost biodiversity, and create a healthier home for our local platypus and other native wildlife. 🌱
